Sophie is beginning her career as an assistant ranger with the South Downs National Park Authority, thanks to traineeships undertaken at the Natural History Museum and Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust.
Her day-to-day work is practical land management, and her main interests are birds and insects. She loves working with livestock to understand conservation grazing and exploring the countryside for interesting wildlife.
"Knepp is a wonderful place to learn about rewilding and how conservation in the UK can look on a large scale. It is a really inspiring place to be. I particularly enjoy being in the Wildland at dawn wheneverything is beginning to wake up and you can spot herds of deer in the morning mist while listening to the dawn chorus."
