Kingfishers are one of the most beautiful of the UK’s birds but usually seen only as a blue flash along a pond or river. David Plummer has unique knowledge of Knepp’s kingfisher population having photographed and studied them for the last five years.
After a short presentation over a cup of tea and locally made brownies, David will walk you out into the rewilding project for a tour of kingfisher habitat and territories. He will then introduce you to a specially-situated hide where, with a little patience and luck, you’re very likely to be rewarded with close sighting of a kingfisher.
This is a walking safari, at a gentle pace, with frequent stops for wildlife watching. You’ll need a moderate level of fitness and be able to cope with walking on uneven ground.
Please note that this is not a photographic safari. This safari is simply for the quiet observation of kingfishers and cameras will not be permitted inside this hide. If you’d like to photograph kingfishers, which will be using a different set-up, please book in with David here.
